Hiking Sandstone Peak

09/25/2015

Sandstone Peak, aka Mt. Allen, is one of my favorite hiking trails in Los Angeles. The view here is spectacular! It is also the highest summit in the Santa Monica Mountains, so you will definitely feel like you’re on top of the world when you’re in this place.

Rising to an elevation of 3,114ft and with full 360 views, you’ll see mountains and hills on one side, and the Pacific Ocean on the other side. The best thing about this trail is you can either do the long version, rounding up to about 6 miles, or do the shorter hike about 2 miles to reach the summit.

When we went late in the afternoon, we just did the short hike up. I definitely want to go back and try the longer route, since there is so much more things to see in that trail.

Look ma, (unintentional) eyes closed!

DSC01055See you again soon, Sandstone Peak! We will definitely be back to see more of your beauty!

xx Sassy

If you’ve done the 6mile hike in the past, how was it for you?
