REVIEW: ONWEGO® Inflatable Travel Pillows

09/14/2016

When it comes to camping, one of the most crucial things I need to take with me is a pillow. Without one, I just can’t sleep at all! I used to always bring with me a small pillow which I keep in the car, the one which has lots of tiny styrofoam balls inside, but it wasn’t comfy at all. So my husband and I would always end up taking our huge pillow from home. It sure made it comfortable for us, but it took up a lot of space in our car, so it wasn’t the most ideal thing.

During our Labor Day camping trip in Joshua Tree National Park, we were able to test out backpacking pillows from ONWEGO®. I never really liked air-inflated pillows, but these ones changed my mind! I was surprised by how comfy they were, and the best part was that it had the right height to avoid any neck pains the following day.

onwego-small-travel-pillowlightweight-travel-pillowONWEGO®’s Soft-Top Inflatable Travel Pillows weigh only 4oz and they pack really small, about 4 x 4 inches, and it blows up to 15 x 12 inches. Definitely a good size for traveling.  It’s perfect for when I go camping or backpacking, and especially when I need to travel by plane.

One of its great features is its one-way air valve system. This lets you inflate the pillow very easily by blowing into it. You can literally inflate it in under 10 seconds! When you need to deflate, you simply have to press the inner flap, and it deflates instantly. It’s great that you have the option to easily inflate & deflate, in order to adjust the pillow’s firmness. The pillow’s design also gets a bit deeper in the middle, and it is perfect for cradling your head.

onwego-pillow-reviewI also love the fabric they chose for the pillow case, it felt very soft. It also had the small stuff sack attached to it, so you wouldn’t have to worry about losing it when it’s time to pack your pillow.

travel-pillow-onwegoI really can’t think of anything negative to say about this travel pillow, except I wish there were more design & color options, since they only have it in Black at the moment. Other than that, I think it’s perfect for campers and travelers like me who like to pack light for trips. Most importantly, it lets you sleep well throughout the night.

onwego-backpacking-pillowonwego-travel-pillowWhether it be camping, backpacking, or traveling, this pillow will surely give you the comfort you need. I was able to use it in the car during our road trip, while inside the tent when it was time to sleep, and even while we were just chilling around the campsite. In all those times, this pillow came in handy. Now, I don’t think I’ll ever leave for a trip without it!

    1. What a cool little thing to be able to take along on your travels without even thinking about it. I love home comforts whereever i am and a pillow is a must! Also your photos are lovely 🙂

    1. I need this! My husband and I love to go back country camping. It’s a lot of fun but the downside is that you carry everything on your back… The tent, sleeping bag, food. So I’ve always have to just wad up my clothes and use that as a pillow. I will definitely check this out! Thanks for the review.

      1. Hi Melissa! I’m actually going for my first ever backpacking experience next week, and I’m very excited! Really stoked about hiking in with all our stuff. Definitely not excited about the heavy pack, but i’m glad i’ll get to sleep with a pillow instead of my clothes rolled up!

    1. I certainly needed this post before we went camping in Italy on the weekend – my pillow from home was awful. I bet these were much better 🙂
      Great review!

      1. Thank you so much! I’ve discarded so much pillows already because none worked out for me. I was really happy about this one, though 🙂

    1. Wow! That thing is so compact! I don’t do much camping, but this seems like a good thing to have around the house. I often get visitors and it would be nice to have these pillows for my guests.

      1. It will come in handy for sure! I now have this pillow and an airbed ready for when I have guests over.

    1. I’m going camping for my first time in Colorado next weekend, so I’m really glad I stumbled upon this blog post! I love the travel gear that can fold up into practically nothing!! Lol my hammock and my waterbottle work like this too & it has made packing so much easier. Thanks for sharing!!

      1. I’m truly happy you found this useful, Remi! I go all out when it comes to organizing stuff in my pack, so I love when they collapse to small sizes for easier packing and more space.

    1. Inflatable pillows are such a lifesaver… If I don’t bring one on a long flight I basically die. For camping though this one looks much better than the travel neck ones! Will definitely keep in mind.

    1. I always thought those inflatable pillows were uncomfortable. We’re definitely going to try this one next time my boys go on a scouts camp.

    1. This is awesome, I’d love to use this for camping or flights! I’ll definitely have to try this. It’s always nice to have a pillow when traveling, but usually they take up too much space. This one looks so compact!

    1. Just amazing! I hate when I go to bivouac elsewhere and feel unconfortable with my head, as I don’t know how to put my hands trying to do a pillow with them hahaha!! Great article to have in mind for the next time I go to do bivouac.
