I have come to a point in my life where waking up extra early to see the sunrise was a leisurely thing. If I knew I slept in late that night, I’d still make it a point to open the blinds wide enough for me to see the skies change color while the sun was rising, while I was laying in bed.
Now that the sunrise came later than it did during the summer, I didn’t have to wake up extra early to see it. Which is why I thought about catching the sunrise in the valley, for my 27th birthday.
These shots were taken between 6:45 to 7:45 in the morning, on October 17, 2015.
One of the perks of living in the San Fernando Valley is you get to be so close to these great spots, which are high enough to overlook the city. My husband and I spent about an hour here, just waiting for the clouds to break until the sun was visible. The play of colors was absolutely spectacular! It would go from blue, to violet, to pink, to orange ..in a matter of minutes.
There’s always something so calming about the sunrise. The way clouds move above, the way the fog crawls in between hills, and the way the rays pierce through the sky. Time may be moving fast, and I can’t believe i’m already more than a quarter of a century old, but contemplating about life in tranquil moments like this, gives me the pause that I need in order to recheck myself. I get to be at peace, and only the beauty of nature can give me that.
Life is such a beautiful thing! Cheers to being 27, and here’s to many more sunrises in the future!
